I remember this set got posted during Cyber Monday here (or maybe Black Friday) and it lasted all of 15 mins on the frontpage. Same 10 dollar price. Think flippers bought it up because of the name brand
These actually aren't too terrible for $20 knives. I've probably sharpened 50 or more of them and they're better than other low-end styles and brands of bargain knives. Personally, I'd rather something better quality like Mesermeister, Zwilling/Henckels, etc. that aren't overly expensive if you wait for a sale. Don't be scared to buy used knives either! You can buy an entire knife block for $50 or so on Facebook, Letgo, Craigslist, etc but if you only have $10-$20 to spend on a set of knives then this would be fine. You're better off buying individual knives instead of an entire block. Also, these low end knives won't stay sharp for very long so if you do a lot of home cooking, get a better set.
To give perspective, you could buy a set of used higher end knives around $50 that are made of a great steel and have them sharpened professionally for $1 per inch. Let's say on average that's $30 or so to sharpen the entire set. For $70 you have a really nice set of knives that will stay sharp for a very long time as long as you don't leave them in a junk drawer.
C/N: These are decent for low end, bottom of the barrel knives if all you have is $20 to spend.

I have never had any problems with the paint coming off. I am just a casual user though
Same, had these a year. No problem with me either. Great set for great price. I hand wash mine and don't let them soak.
