This is my first post so I am not sure what else to add.
This is a great deal on FIre safe delivered. Most places get you on the delivery. Now I believe it's just to your door or just inside the door but not moved in your home or office.
KEY PRODUCT DETAILS
The heavily built Bighorn B5529ECS is full of security features. The programable electronic lock has earned Underwriter's Laboratory (UL) certifications for security. The 340 lb. safe body is 14GA steel. Five 1" diameter door bolts (3 active and 2 dead) supported by anti-pry supports, secure the 4.25" thick door with a 1.5" thick door front. A smoothly operating rack and pinion drive system provides 1.75" of door bolt extension, almost 40% more than the typical safe. The extra thick door, anti-pry supports, and long door bolt extension combine for superior pry protection. The lock is protected by a hardened armor plate along with an internal relocker for added protection, designed to deadbolt the entire system if the lock is attacked.

Features:
30 Minute at 1400°F Fire Rating
External Dimensions: 55"H x 29"W x 20"D
Weight: 340 lbs
California Department of Justice Approved

I have this safe. To move it, take the door off, just open it halfway and slide it up the pins. Now, it's about 100lbs lighter. I moved this into my basement myself using a dolly.
Use a hula hoop to keep the balls contained. It can be like herding cats. Be careful on wood floors though because it can leave dents where they roll.

Or what works even better is a couple 18" sticks of 1 1/2" schedule 40 pipe to roll it around. On smooth floors like laminate or tile, a small rug under it will let it slide. But 340# is really not much at all.

Also, this is usually delivery to driveway or garage, but a little bit of a $ tip will get the delivery driver to give you a bit of a hand getting this closer to where you need it.
with safes generally the heavier the better, else its too easy for 2 guys and a hand truck to wheel it away and get it onto a truck.

Bjs has the 12 gun for $269. In store its $549 and they wont price match. If you go online they want $245 to ship. I called up and they waived the shipping
Good job, bud. This is our bread and butter! I wish I was in proximity of BJs.

Will that work down stairs?

I'm willing to bet that golf balls will absolutely help with getting it down stairs.. at first, and for sure the safe will get "down the stairs".

I have a Bighorn from Costco and two other similarly sized safes (Canon and Fortress) from Tractor Supply. I got the other two during a couple of Tractor Supply's $299 Black Friday deals. The Bighorn has a nicer/smoother lock and handle mechanism, but overall it's not $200 nicer. My Bighorn also had a horrible chemical smell that lasted for at least a year, a problem not experienced with the others. If you can afford to wait for Black Friday, the Tractor Supply deal is the better bargain. I'll be picking up another this year. Yes these are really just security cabinets and any determined thief with a battery powered grinder is getting into it in about 5-10 minutes. However, all safes (except perhaps those costing $5k and up) are vulnerable to a prepared smash & grab thief. These still have value as part of an layered security system that includes cameras and alarms, etc. The point is to slow down a thief long enough to alert the authorities. I use multiple of these safes to further slow down potential thieves. The security of these safes can also be improved by securing them to the floor between walls. They are much harder to attack if a thief can't get to the sides or knock it down. We are building our home now and I'm designing an enclosure area for just for this purpose.

Sounds like you're recommending a safe within a safe. Inception. Smart.

I would be hesitant to buy a safe without a penetration rating unless I was only using it for fire.

These safes have very thin metal as do all the consumer safes at Costco.

Their thickness in the walls is entirely soft insulation. A drill or angle grinder or reciprocating saw (battery powered) can cut right through the walls of these things.

I was surprised what it takes to even keep a safe protected for even 15minutes.

For example the UL RSC (residential security container) rating calls for 3/16" steel on the door and 12 gauge steel on the walls for ab average penetration time of only 5 minutes.

So what does that mean for all these consumer safes that don't even have a rating?

note this criticism only applies for uses who want to protect valuables. I am sure these safes are fine for fire and keeping the kids from the guns. but I'd be afraid to store all my half value Bitcoin in it LOL

I'm content with my 3/16 thick safe body and 1/2 thick door. It should be a decent challenge for unwanted guests.

I bought this motion light to illuminate the keypad at night:
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B075P...UTF8&psc=1

Also, this motion-activated LED strip (battery hog) to illuminate the inside:

I just used a very cheap govee led white motion activated strip light - works perfect. Also I will add I have this exact Costco BH safe - overall it a light safe has very thin walls and I'd call it a glorified gun cabinet not a safe. Also the lock is plastic. Believe me I can have it open in a heartbeat with some very simple tools. I have drilled it and was shocked at how thin the walls are and the floor is also very thin. My goal was to get some of my items out of the way from the grandkids and this works perfectly but if a real thief comes into the house they will peal this thing open like a grapefruit in a matter of seconds and have the contents emptied. Your only hope is to bolt it in a narrow closet where only the door is exposed as the door tends to be thicker material. If you are wanting to deter a thief this is not your answer. To me this is like putting a big sign on a cardboard box that reads "my valuables are in here". Any thief who can break into your house will not have any sort of issue with this safe whatsoever outside of some punk amateur who has no clue what they are doing Is it a deterrent ? no way. It is in fact the opposite.

From my experience, if it's delivered by FEDEX or UPS you'll be lucky if they get it to door. YMMV.
If it's Fedex it will get arrive covered in dents with the box completely destroyed

Recommend Canon or fortress?
