Dell uses 2 different panels. I am pretty sure this is the lower 250 nits, or they would have advertised the better one Frown Other than that, it seems like a solid machine, but check the reviews on the hinges. They have had problems in the past with them breaking, especially on the flip/ touch screen versions

Here is one review: Cons: touch screen is not useful, it would better to replace touch screen with higher color (RGB) screen. Fan noise is a little loud.

Didn't say 250 is good. Just stated the fact.

At this price, it's hard to find 300 nits. Even 300 won't make a big difference under the sun.

Since I don't watch dirty videos outside, it's OK.

The "odds" like this 5700U use the Zen 2 architecture really just a refresh of the 4000 series. The "evens" like the 5600U and 5800U (both nearly impossible to find right now, esp in the U.S.) are Zen 3. Main difference is that Zen 3 has significantly better single-core performance - this was really the only area where AMD lagged Intel, and now they've caught up there, too.

But honestly for day-to-day work you're not really going to notice a difference.

My 5 year old Spectre X360 died on me this morning (turned it on and its going slow as molasses), suspect the SSD is dying.

I'm worried about the build quality with this and the screen, not brightness really but I just hope it has flush bezels like every touch screen laptop I've seen in the last 4 years.

Either way. $750 after tax - 120 Amex - 70 Cash back = $560

I'm okay with spending $560 for this performance. Thing is going to be a beast.

I got this laptop without much discount last time for around $907 after tax - $120 AMEX discount, and thought it's pretty nice deal already.
Love the mist blue color, can't find a YouTube video showcase the color, I might make a simple video of this laptop just to show the outer shell. Black keyboard is a plus with backlit function. The older model all have silver keyboard which is hard to see in the dark with backlit turn on.

Is it unusable outdoors in sunlight? Id be all over this if it had a better panel, but 250 nits is on the edge of being a deal breaker for me.

I ordered a similar laptop from Dell last week that has still not arrived. It's marked as "returned to sender by Dell.com" It was a gift for my Dad. Customer service has no idea and keeps saying they will get back to me, and they never have. Will never order from Dell again, it's an absolute joke.

Correct - everybody is canceling on this one. Old processor and the screen is painful to look at.

I almost made a mistake also.

Needs to get closer to $500.

Many people jumping on this because of the $120 Amex + ten percent c b, which brings this all-in the $560-570 range. Lots of puts and takes across various configurations of laptops available today, but for this price this is an exceptional deal for a non black friday / cyber-monday event. If you are a serious laptop gamer, movie watcher, or guy who sits outside when they work (most people sit inside 99% of time) maybe this isn't the powerful machine for you and you need processor + screen above all else. For many people working at a desk and in outlook, excel, chrome, PPT all day this machine will go above and beyond, and battery is strong. Let's be sober about all this.
