Opted for the new blank white "turbo sim" (pretty generic on ebay) that after initial insert and removal, you don't need anything awkwardly wrapping around your sim cards for it to work.
After updating the ICCID, now my phone carrier lock status shows as "No SIM restrictions" and I can easily swap around my available SIMs.
Still 174 days (as shown on cricket site) to request factory unlock, but essentially there's no longer any real urgency.
Did you trying unlocking from your Cricket account via account settings -> account information -> get code -> request unlock?

1. brought iphone SE,
2. down graded to $30 plan and
3. need to merge new account to my original account with 5-lines ($100).
I chat with them but they said they need to merge the new line as the 6th line in my plan and will make it $160/month(6 lines).
Should I cancel the new iphone SE phone service (not sure they will let me do it) then try to merge the two account again ?
Please help.
Thanks in advance !!

So how does this work? Once it is unlocked we start using another SIM. Meanwhile - the Cricket SIM is still sitting unused with all the $180 credits in a drawer.
.
So an we call in after 180 days and still get the iphone unlocked?
Will Cricket know that the phone is using ANOTHER SIM and that the cricket SIM is not used in the phone.
So after I activate the new SIM and have $180 credits, I can then remove the Cricket SIM put it in a drawer. Unlock the iphone with RSIM and keep using it with another network SIM.
Now after 6 months when I request unlock will cricket not know that the phone wasn't used with a Cricket SIM? During the unlock process does the iPhone have to be with me and have the cricket SIM card in it?
What if I give the iPhone SE to a friend or give it overseas? Can I still request unlock with just the Cricket SIM card being active and not in the iPhone at that time?
Thanks in advance.
Immediately. The same person that merged the two accounts canceled the line for me. And yes, you can just put your old sim into this phone and use it. That is what I did
