What is this phone the equivalent of (or come close to) on the old S lines? I had to temporarily switch to the A10e from the Note 10 after I broke my phone. I want something similar in performance to the Note 10. I don't mind signing a 2 or 3 year agreement for monthly bill credits.

Get a Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra assuming you must have an Spen. Could also get the S21 Ultra which is Spen compatible.

Are these GSM or CDMA or does that even matter anymore? I don't see it listed in the specs other than "US version," which leads me to believe CDMA Haven't bought a phone in a while.

I was comparing the specs between this phone vs. my beloved Google Pixel 3a XL and I found that the A42 is Unlocked & GSM:

A little concerned about that screen resolution (1280 x 720), but otherwise the specs look great.

Yea, for an extra $100 I think the specs are a decent jump to the A52. I'm going to put a deal alert on for it.

I don't think the camera is going to be the same. I think the 3A way better.

In my opinion, nothing beats Google's cell phone camera technology. We agree.

The A42 5G are comparable to the Moto phones such as the One 5G Ace which is also on sale for Prime Day.

https://www.gsmarena.com/compare....one2=10671

The One 5G Ace is available for $349 and has the same Snapdragon CPU, same storage amount, an extra 2GB of ram, a higher res 1080p screen (LCD), and a more reliable rear-mounted FP sensor. On the flip side the Moto has lower quality cameras and a worse update support.

I'll add two things:
1. If you have Ting, the Motorola One Ave 5G is $329 from Ting and also comes with a $60 account credit for Ting users.
2. That being said, I currently have a Motorola X4 which I was initially quite happy with, but less than two years in, the charging port is screwed up and I can only slow charge, and both the volume up and power buttons are broken, meaning I can't restart the phone and using it is a pain. Based on that and reading that Motorola has these issues across phone platforms, I am leaning towards the A42.

Samsung definitely has better build quality. Besides that there's usually better case options and replacement part availability than Moto phones. You'll definitely get more OS updates from Samsung than from Moto.
