This will be good for my kid to commute to school and work, really free me up some time.

You think if I get down to 160 I can ride it? May have to get 2.

Motor seems like 200w, it will move you (@160lbs and beyond) but not quickly and if there is any kind of incline expect to slow down drastically. There's a tiny 7Ah sealed lead acid battery (pretty heavy). You can buy an aftermarket one that is a 9Ah. My biggest worry would be build quality, at 160lbs it's not you standing on it that will break it, it's the little bumps and such that will stress weld points. You don't need to be going very fast to hurt yourself on a scooter. Reminder, thing is rated for 120lbs, so it SHOULD work if you're 160, but heed warnings above.

The wheels are too small for commuting. You're likely to crash just hitting small gaps in your sidewalk or street.
