Also, how does this Nest compare with the second-gen model that I bought back in 2014?

Since it's connected to your personal WIFI, I don't see any way PSE&G overrides your settings.

I believe it's nice upgrade from 2014 to 2021 but I see people are complaining about the Nest dial, it's bit hard to control the AC using it.

The learning one drops to $99. That's a much nicer thermostat and is a pretty good price. I've had that one at my old house the last 4 1/2 years and it worked great.
