Any strings attached to the rebate offer like letting PSE&G override my settings?

Also, how does this Nest compare with the second-gen model that I bought back in 2014?

Since it's connected to your personal WIFI, I don't see any way PSE&G overrides your settings.

I believe it's nice upgrade from 2014 to 2021 but I see people are complaining about the Nest dial, it's bit hard to control the AC using it.

I was referring to the Texas utility that took control of customers' thermostats as part of a promotion when the customers agreed to receive free thermostats via rebates.

I was curious too. Just in general...

You can receive $85 if you have a central air conditioning system and install a qualifying smart thermostat that allows us to make minor, short-term adjustments to your air conditioning that reduce power use during periods of high demand for electricity. That reduces strain on the electric system and saves you money. In most cases, you won't even notice adjustments to the central air conditioning system and you'll always have ultimate control. Beginning in the second year of participation, you may also receive an additional $25 each year you participate.
From PSEG LI, but i assume both are similar. https://www.psegliny.com/saveener...martsavers

The learning one drops to $99. That's a much nicer thermostat and is a pretty good price. I've had that one at my old house the last 4 1/2 years and it worked great.
