Does that work with aquarium kits? I thought it worked only with a standalone tank.
I read 1.0 ppm ammonia on a new tank, and I did nothing. It has SA tetras in it and they do well in slightly acidic water. The tank is at 6.4 pH, and that meant that the actual ammonia part of that 1.0 reading was merely 1/36th the lower toxic level (about 0.00137 ppm while ammonia is toxic at about 0.05 ppm. - actual ammonia is extremely toxic, that's only 0.000005%)
They are acting like it is a reef tank with very expensive fish that are very susceptible to slight variations in conditions.
Unless you have very bad water where you live, I just let it sit overnight for the chlorine to evaporate and put fish in.
Start off with the $1 fish sale, cheaper than a test kit.

In simpler terms, get the starter bacteria… fill the tank…. Use tap water conditioner… 1 sacrificial neon tetra and let tank settle for a month.
After that the chemistry is stable and fish will survive

How to get the 20% offer?
Use Seachem Stability (buy online for pickup or price match; web price is always way lower). I'll get downvoted by the serious aquarists, but you can use it in lieu of cycling your tank forever - I've never had success cycling a tank without fish in it, so I don't anymore. I also have all but stopped testing unless something seems off in my tank (sick fish, sudden algae growth, water looks/smells funny) - you could lose your mind trying to maintain perfection and I find that I have more fish that get sick or died trying to fix water parameters when everyone already seemed happy and healthy.
Also, buying the cheapest damn fish always seems to do the trick. My two 15 cent feeder goldfish apparently will live forever it seems…

It should be fine so long as everything is moved over to the new tank… filter media, gravel, etc. It should conserve the bacteria.
