At Best Buy it's going for $800 (with a student discount) but if you utilize a student discount via the Samsung online store then it's only $720. Sounds like a better deal to me.

Specs:
Screen size: 13.3"
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7
Storage: 512 gb
Ram: 16 gb

I don't see that price without trade in. I also don't see that color, only blue. Are you sure that's without trade-in? So many Samsung "deal" posts omit that. Is it the alpha maybe?

Why is the Flex better than the Flex2 Alpha?

From what I can see the Flex2 Alpha comes with a newer processor (11th Gen vs. 10th) and more memory (16GB vs. 8GB). Comparing the 13.3" models only.

The flex is a higher end model than the alpha. Comparing the flex to the flex alpha you are getting better build quality, USB c charging, s-pen support, larger battery, and some other stuff. MSRP is about $400+ higher on even the cheapest Book Flex compared to Flex alpha. It would be a much bigger discount

Whether you'd want the flex alpha 2 vs the previous generation flex probably depends on your use case.
