Is this a good deal or should I get the Asus TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B monitor?

The cheapest 34" curved 1440p ultrawide IPS panel is $800 and it is a toss up if the one you get has dead pixels, dead ports, horrific backlight bleed and a one year warranty and *this* is pricey?

I swear the second a VA panel gets posted on SD, there is an IPS Master Race person here telling us how much it sucks while looking at an IPS screen that is only capable of displaying black when it is powered off. Not like any games or movies have night scenes though.

Probably a toss up, but the Asus screen is every so slightly more curved (1500R to the Dell's 1800R) which may or may not be a bad thing depending on your desk space and use. If the extra curve doesn't matter and you have Prime, might as well go Asus to save a couple bucks. It is a really well reviewed monitor, both from customers and professional reviewers. I think it would be a safer bet.

If you happen to have an American Express card with the Dell $120 off $599+ offer, you can add something small to the cost of the Dell to trigger the offer and still end up cheaper than the Asus. I wouldn't be shocked if they were the same panel.

You don't necessarily need curved screen with an IPS monitor. You do for VA because the colors shift so much when viewed at an angle.

You absolutely do need a curved screen at this size though. I've tried 34" flat, it sucks for gaming and it is worse for productivity. The stuff on the perimeter of the screen just isn't in your field of view unless you're about 32-36" back so any extra screen real estate is just being lost or you're needing to turn your head a ton.

If you're in the 24-27" range, maybe even going up to 32" on a really high quality IPS panel, then yeah of course you don't need curved and if you're in that size you should go IPS because it will almost always be the better quality panel dollar for dollar. Once you're in the 34+" ultrawide territory, curved is non-negotiable. There is just too much happening on the edges of the screen that you lose otherwise unless you are lucky enough to have a very deep desk.

I won't argue with your preference. I've had a 34" flatscreen before and I was fine for both productivity and gaming. I have tried 34" curved as well and while for gaming it can be nicer, it was a noticeably better experience mainly for racing games.

I got this. Nice monitor. The curve is perfect. Not too much and I also used student discount.

ive been looking at 2 of these for a dual side by side or stacked.....

ive looked at
LG 49BL95C-W 49" 32:9 Curved UltraWide Dual QHD (5120x1440)
U4021QW Dell curved 40"
SAMSUNG 49" 5120 x 1440 CURVED 120Hz 4ms FREESYNC MONITOR LC49RG90SSNXZA

Frankly i would like the highest resolution possible....but i have confused the shit out of myself as the price difference between the 34 to 49 is quite large and could buy 2 units for the price of 1 49.
I really want a dual set up as i have a 4-24 and a 32 set up now....

so any suggestions would help...
