3rd party but FBA. Amazons Price is $18.51 so not such a huge difference but I don't know what these usually go for, just have a passing interest in getting one.

They run from about $16 up to about $45 (depends on seller).
It's a decent albeit mostly normal price for the Safari.

$29 is the average price for a Lamy Safari from most reputable online pen dealers like Pen Chalet, Jet Pens, etc. So this is a nice deal. If anybody reading is considering getting into fountain pens, the Lamy Safari is a great jumping off point.

The Safari is a great fountain pen. Just be aware that the nibs are pretty big in general, like my fine point nib could easily be mistaken for a medium or bold point from pretty much any other brand.

A lot of people recommend starting out wit either a Pilot Metropolitan or a Lamy Safari as their first fountain pen, and I've liked the Safari much, much better because it's easier to refill the ink using the converter (although both have ink cartridges available that make it easier and less messy) and the writing is smoother.

If this is your first, the lamy safari will need a proprietary converter to use bottled ink. That said, good pen to start with. It teaches you to not leave pens around everyone and to start properly caring for one before moving on to something more expensive. Decent price, nothing to rush to buy if you already have one though.

This is all we used back in the days, about 20-25 years ago. I grew up in Germany so we always used Lamy pens and learned cursive writing as well.
They used to cost 50 Deutsch Marks back then.

i've got two metropolitan's that i for the life of me cannot get to write correctly. they worked at some point. now no matter what i do i can't get them to draw ink. idk. would this be easier to use?

Beware that many Lamy pens sold on Amazon, even "by LAMY" have been known to be counterfeits. Was looking to get a few a while ago, but many reviews are seeing fake ones pop up!
