The 4k screen will be problematic for gaming, that's the only downside I can think of. A RTX 3060 Max-Q is not going to able to play many modern games smoothly at 4K resolution, but maybe DLSS can help with that? Other than that 512GB is going to be pretty restricting as far as hard drive space goes but you could always upgrade. The cooling might be somewhat of an issue as well since it's an 8 core intel processor in a thin-and-light chassis, but shouldn't be too bad for games.

Overall this laptop is targeted more at creators hence which is has such an outrageous display (in terms of color accuracy and resolution), most apple laptops wouldn't be able to compete on that front. If you're not a competitive gamer or you're fun with lowering some settings or playing games at a lower resolution or you plan on carrying your laptop around a lot then I'd say this is a pretty good machine for the price.

If you're just looking for an 8 core laptop with a GPU to play games and do the odd productivity task while mostly at a desk, there are much cheaper options that have better RTX 3060 GPU's (the Dell is the most prominent thing that comes to mind).
Just change the resolution to 1920 x 1080 for newer games. It scales perfectly. There should be no artifacts or any indication its scaled. Problem solved.

check the comment on the similar one from Best Buy, that one is 1TB SSD and no MIR hassle, but the comment is helpful.

GIGABYTE laptops and thermal throttling issues go hand in hand and this model is no exception. The 4K OLED screen is nice but only for creators. For everyone else it's just drains the battery like crazy and hampers gaming. Don't even think about ray-tracing and even DLSS won't save you.

Bought an aero with a 2070s and 4k panel 2 months ago and returned it. Tried to downscale my games to 1440p but it still ran HOT. Front right speaker went in and out too. Won't buy gigabyte aero for gaming ever again.

It's a nice machine, but it's INTEL, and we all know that intel is dead... and if a laptop is not Ryzen is not worth it. Battery wise Intel is super bad.

You're not speaking any form of truth, and there is no "we" concensus on the fate of Intel as a whole. Willow Cove is a competitive stack, winning some comparos and losing at others. Claiming Intel is dead is as ridiculous as saying AMD was dead during the Core 2 Duo days era.

2 out of the 3 main consoles use AMD, and now Steam Deck (switch-like Gaming machine will use AMD)

Companies are switching to EPYC and ADM products.

Many reviewers, many websites, and studies show that Intel is doing very badly lately, and if Ryzen keeps bringing new stuff, Intel was milking Fanboys for YEARS.

But to each, it's own you buy that Laptop with Intel and 2 hours battery - I have G14 with Ryzen 3060, and I can make the battery last 6-8 hours easily.

I returned an Alienware M15 R4 3080 because the battery was like 1.5hrs (Intel) it was freezing.

I returned MSI 3080 because of the battery and Intel. It was freezing.

when I got this cheap G14 with Ryzen 9 and 3060 = success

4K screens on gaming laptops MEH, people wonder why everyone is wearing glasses and contacts.

I also prefer a smaller form factor if I want something portable to game with. With that being said the ASUS ROG from two days ago for 1400 at best buy and an AMD processor was the better choice. It only had a 3050 TI vs a 3060Q looking into it more the 3060Q still delivers almost 50% more performance so if you need it for gaming can go with it. Other pro of the Asus it has a touch screen which I like and it can be used as a tablet and works with the Surface Pro Stylus for note taking.

What's a good content creation laptop for light gaming with good build quality and thermals? I'm thinking Legion 7 but want to make sure there's not other ones out there. AMD seems to be best bang for buck so it really limits options.
