These are hilarious. Never understood how this saves space sticking out into a room, unless you keep them in a corner. Your bike sticks out further than a dresser/chest. Up against the wall is saving space.

Yaknow.....I am not commenting on the space-saving aspect. I suppose if you have multiple bikes, it eliminates the ability to just lean against a wall. The idea is interesting....but feels like it would not take much to have a bike dropping to the floor.
I also do not know why I need it totally off the floor. What am I needing the floor space under the bike for?

Having said all that, my DIY mind kicked in when I saw this. I am wondering why I do not just cut a PVC pipe in half lengthwise. Drill a hole on each side for a Bungy cord or some other way to hold the bike. It would not take much because I am picturing the back wheel on the floor ....thereby not requiring it to support the entire weight of the bike.
I could attach the PVC with the same size screw as this is using...preferable in a stud.
I can paint the PVC any color that I want it to be.

I feel like I could make a lot of these out of a single PVC pipe...probably a 2 1/2 pipe......and suspect that even with the Bungy and paint, it would come out a lot cheaper. Of course, it really only makes sense if you have multiple bikes to deal with.

If you've got a bunch of bikes it's more space-efficient and easy to access them with these hooks than having a bunch of bikes leaned on the wall/parked all over the place. Some bikes also have wide bars that make use of the up-against-the-wall stands impractical. If I had 2 road bikes (which will have narrower, drop bars), I'd agree with you and probably buy one of the "against-the-wall" stands that holds the bikes by their top tube one atop the other.

Edit: One additional note: For anyone considering these hooks, I consider affixing them to a stud (or TapCons if you're going into some kind of thick masonry/stone) mandatory. You don't want your bike to be at risk of falling off the wall randomly and causing damage/injury. I vaguely recall the instructions saying you can just use those chintzy plastic anchors in drywall - don't do it!
