Wow even cheaper than the $128 lightning deal last month. I bought this in May for $150 even though the reviews aren't great. It recently got a firmware update to allow mapping of multiple floors which is great for my 2-story. Lidar, strong suction, and mapping of multiple floors for such a low price, I'll be happy if it lasts a year.

Good discussion about this vacuum from last month:

I've owned this for about 2 months. Used it upstairs and it constantly got caught up on our cowhide and bath mats. My roborock didn't have this issue.

I moved it downstairs and it has worked flawlessly. We just have one heavyweight rug down there.

Seems good for the price, but worried about this disclaimer from the seller on the amazon page (and the reviewer who mentioned the robot trying to go down the stairs).
Seller disclaimer:
"1.There is no sensor at the end of the device. In order to prevent falling, the device cannot drive backwards. Please use the remote control or APP to turn it to the left or right."
Reviewer:
"The fall detection, does not work at all."
So, maybe a good buy if you don't have stairs.

I put the stairs as a no-go zone in the app and it avoids getting too close.

My YTE (same model) stops at the stairs and turns around automatically. I've never had it fallen down the stairs.

Lucky you. Mine fell down once and so I put large things to block it until I figured how to add no-go zone.

Anyone know if this vacuum only vacuums until it has covered the area or keeps going until the battery dies out? In other words, is the duration of a vacuum session programmable?

I have a current non-mapping robot vacuum that runs until the battery is dying. So each vacuum session ends up being 1.5 hours, even though it has already covered the area in half that time. There is no way to program it to run for shorter duration, so it has to be manually told to go dock every time. Otherwise, it runs around bumping into everything for a full 1.5 hours which gets pretty annoying if home.

I was thinking of getting it but the reviews are scary about how it just stops working after 1-2 months. How are you working out the warranty, getting squaretrade or something 3rd party?

It only vacuums the area/rooms you tell it and when it gets to 20%, it goes back to the dock to charge. After charging a bit, it will finish the rest of the area if not finished. I wish the 20% threshold was changeable, i.e. lower, but doesn't seem to be.

Yeah that's the biggest hesitation with this vacuum/brand is the longevity. I didn't get additional warranty, just hoping for the best and if it lasts a year, I'll be happy.
