I've seen them cheaper, but those were mainly only in size S/M. This has both sizes. There's a lot of stuff to fill the $9.01 that will give you free shipping (code SHIP89).

I have the farpoint 55 and I love it, this one is probably better suited for traveling on those airlines that have tight restrictions for carry-ons. The 55 is just a smidge too large, especially when full. I only had to check it in once during a eurotrip.

My sister has the Osprey Fairview 55 (female version on the Farpoint) and loves it. She also had the same problems with checking it in Europe. We're planning trips to Europe and don't want to check bags which is why we went with the 40L versions. I got the farpoint and my wife got the fairview. I was looking at the Osprey Porter 40, but the straps are not as comfortable and hide different. I really liked the REI Ruckpack 40 because it like a combination with the best of them both, but I got this for half the price. I'm definitely a sale shopper.

3.2lbs sounds heavy. Is there an aluminum frame or something? My High Sierra about the same size is only 1.5lbs.

It has more padding, better materials, and is more comfortable than High Sierra, in my opinion. I tried those out and they're fine for more of a budget one. That's why I was looking for this on sale
