Nintendo published BD2 outside of Japan, so it is far less likely a port will happen.

You know, I had thought that was the case, but they weren't listed on the Wikipedia page for OT under publisher.

I believe it was 29.99 at GameStop a few weeks ago, so this price isn't that bad if you want a hard copy.
They also published Dragon Quest 11, specifically the Switch version with all the extra content. No problem with Square publishing it on other platforms.
Another example is Platinum's the Wonderful 101. Nintendo helped fund and published on Wii U, but Platinum was able to self publishing for PS4, PC, and Switch ports.
