If This is anything like the dethadder elite I'd pass. Mine had the rubber pads fall off in the first 3 months. Misclicks. And the software. I will never buy one again strictly because of the bloatware you are required to install to use this mouse.

I'm going to echo most people's sentiment on here, although I had somewhat better luck than most. From 2007 to 2016, I purchased 4 DeathAdders. One was replaced through warranty from clicking not working anymore. The others usually lasted longer, but I would eventually have to replace them due to double-clicking or an issue with the USB connection (it couldn't be recognized by the computer anymore). I used them for work and day-to-day personal use, but very little gaming. I was a big fan of Razer and their products back in the early 2000's, so I kept overlooking the fact that I had to keep replacing their products every so often.

But after so many replacements, I had to try something else. Switched to Logitech MX Master series and it's been so much better. Wireless, doesn't get as dirty (the matte coating on the DeathAdder would get nasty after a while), battery lasts for weeks/months, can easily switch between different devices, and still has two buttons by my thumb so I can map them similarly to what I had with my DeathAdders.

I've had 3 deathadders and 2 Naga / trinity mice over the past 10+ years. All 5 of them eventually had the double click issue. I've been using a Razer Basilisk for over a year now and no issues yet. I can't say for sure if these newer deathadders are any better but yeah.. I keep buying their mice because they are really nice looking and perform well until they don't (after 1 to 2 years). I'd expect the cheaper mice to have issues more often but not the ones like Naga Trinity that cost $100+

So point is, I wouldn't expect their mice to last more than a couple years of daily use.

I bought a Deathadder Chroma about 5 years ago. It's still working great.

I've had all versions of the deathadder. Mainly because I need the side buttons to properly line up with my thumb, and they are large, flat, and comfortable. I believe the older switches are better than the new ones, as long as you don't need higher dpi for some reason that the elite versions have. Also, I have broken the Chroma (that is basically the Essential) the Elite, and the V2 Pro, I sent back two V2 Pro mice (this past Amazon prime day) because The build quality was far worse than the Elite. I buy 4 of them when they go under $25 and they last me around 8-12 months each. Usually the side buttons cave in on any version, or the mouse wheel gets stiff on the older ones, or they get the double click problem more often on the newer version switches. I'm using them for both work and play for around 8-13 hours, the most important thing is positioning and comfort for me. The BenQ Zowie looks like a good option for Deathadder users with size options and roughly the same side buttons, but they are having some of the same problems at a higher price.

It seems many people have lots of experience with razor mice, do they all require installing razor's custom software to use and configure the buttons even just for regular (non-gaming) purposes?

I just bought a deathadder mini v2 cause i just wanted a good reliable mouse should i plan on returning it?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I find their synapse software highly customizable. I had other brands, and they are all about the same in quality--with the build quality, reliability, etc. But Razer also have one of the highest customer service rating.

My first deathadder lasted 5 years of extreme abuse, I'm talking diablo 3 and mobas. Got a new deathadder elite and started having issues within 3 months, right click works half the time and the left click is double clicking. They really lowered the quality on the newer mice.

My deathadder is many years old and it started doing the doiuble clicking. There are a couple temporary fixes that temporarily gets rid of it. Resetting the mouse by unplugging and holding the buttons then replugging in (I think), and blowing under the clicker.
