It depends on what services you use. There are still many that don't have Android TV apps (like Spectrum, Britbox, many cable channels), and there are likewise some that have discontinued their Roku apps (YouTube TV and, again, Spectrum). There are work-arounds with Chromecast/AirPlay or the regular YouTube app, but that really hinders the 'ease of use' -- for me anyway.

Personally I prefer Roku because of its simplicity and that the remote has dedicated play/pause, rewind/FF, and instant replay buttons. I've never had a Shield, but I've used a Tivo Streak 4K until I can upgrade my ancient bedroom Roku. While my experience with Android TV has been pretty good, I do really miss having buttons that work the same in every app.

Roku Originals are good! They include the Quibi shows. I've seen Anna Kendrick's Dummy and now watching The Fugitive with Kiefer Sutherland.

I have an Apple TV and Nvidia shield. My Roku 4K from a couple of years ago has been gathering dust!

I was surprised how good the shows. Ran through all of them before I knew it.

Yes they are. They just didn't get any traction on Crackle channel (I think). Quibi spent a lot considering the big names, and a Roku snapped a bargain.
