14 oz bag at Costco right now - $3.99
This is a 4 oz bag for $4
Because I have three kids all under the age of 7. When you're trying to make lunch for three people and your 1 year old is screaming at you, the last thing on your mind is trying to save .25c per serving by making popcorn from scratch and then seasoning it for consumption. In short, people buy for convenience.
Also, our 7 year old has severe food allergies (anaphylaxis) so these are good side dishes for lunch or snacks.
Note: I buy bigger bags from Costco.

Why the rude response?
Going to guess you don't have kids or never experienced anyone with severe food allergies who doesn't have the time or patience to make their own popcorn and save 25c per serving. Or having three kids, one of which is a one year old who has no desire to wait for me to make popcorn.
News flash, if there's a product or service that's become so popular more brands and varieties continue to become available it means there's a market for it.
I don't play video games (don't have the time for it) but should I comment on the thread about how XYZ game is not worth the money? If there's a market for it then I'm obviously not the target demographic.
Do you sew your own clothing ? Or milk your own cows . Those are easy too for some people.
I'm surprised it took that long for someone to say it's so easy or the 'ol health police bit .
