What's considered tiny? My front and back lawns are about 600 Sq ft each. Still worth purchasing cordless?

I disagree. I've been pulling a 100 foot cord around my medium sized, around 7,000 sq. ft., yard for 20+ years.

PROS
  • Super low maintenance! Replaced switch once and motor brushes once. Both very easy. No winter prep. Starts perfectly each spring.
  • No worries about power or run-time. Batteries deteriorate and are expensive to replace. They are also sensitive to temperature.
  • No need to store gasoline or motor oil.

CONS
  • Cord is a bit of a hassle. Be careful about running over it. Also, turn opposite directions to keep it from twisting/coiling up.
  • Narrow cutting width compared to gas mowers. I believe that corded and battery mower widths are similar.

If you're willing to get a good extension cord and put up with the inconvenience of pulling it around your yard, I think that corded is the best way to mow.

Corded mowers are fine if you have spare mental bandwidth to handle cord management. If not, yeah, cordless(battery) would be a better fit with the drawback of higher recurring cost and some added weight.

Still waiting for somebody to put some some super-cap banks on these mower to give us the perfect mower. Better yet, convert your lawn to lower maintenance lawn and jump off the band wagon that Levitt started.

It seems like the clovers have taken over my lawn, and my mowing cycles have been stretched to about 3-4 weeks while maintaining that 'green' look. I'm hoping by next year, I'll be able to stretch that to 5 weeks before I need to mow the lawn.

Less mowing = more cash in my retirement account as well as more free time now, and allows me to retire earlier. Leading me to me to... more free time in the future.
