The Crucial 500gb NVME is an especially good deal. It's not exactly a rockstar in terms of speed, but if you're building a htpc or budget gaming rig and just need to slot a cheap NVME it has good reliability. All time low on amazon, per CCC, is $48, so @$46 is definitely slick!

FYI people say it needs a heatsink because it runs hot. Maybe just buy a little cheapo stick-on one?

Anyone got a diskmark score on this drive?

Still waiting to replace my 1TB NVMe SSD I bought three years ago for $69. Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron stop colluding to milk the consumer at 1-2TB kkthx. We are ready to be cheated internet.

Bro,

Is that how you increase your post count?
You need to post the same message in every single ducking SSD/NVMe post?

GAL!

Hopefully all these deals lately on Gen 3s means the Gen 4s will start coming down in price soon.

Curious where you heard this. My understanding is that unless you're chia mining, nvme heatsinks are more of a gimmick than anything else

You don't need a heatsink. It does run warmer than most appox 55-65 during idle. If you're going to continuously write to this drive then go with a 970 pro. This is a good consumer drive (non prosumer).

A heatsink needs to have thermally conductive material adhering it and you want sufficient mounting pressure to promote the conduction. Just sticking a heat sink on doesn't work all that well, and if done incorrectly it will actually act as an insulator

I'm using a cheap stick on heatsink just because it's silver and makes it look good on the board with the rgb lights. It does lower the temp by 10 degrees

It's right on with the specs. Can't attach the screenshoot, but it's 3446 read and 3046 write for sequential.

I used to be a Micron/Crucial fan, but their current level of support is unacceptable. I have a Micron SSD and their own maintenance software reports there is an issue with the firmware. The response from their support is to just use it because it's working at the moment.
