No coupon. It's one of the other sellers. 1-star reviews have me spooked. Pass.

I bought a Amazon branded product with HDMI 4k 60hz for close to the same price. I figure it is only a waste of money if you buy something you don't want.

Most of the bad reviews are for a USB 2.0 hub and not this hub.

Be aware that they have like 5 different products under this same listing. So reviews are from all of those products. You can't easily tell from the review what product is being reviewed. I really hate when they do it like this.

For that reason, I'm passing on this.

You can filter reviews for just a particular item.

Any recommendations for a cheap but quality hub that you can use for a dual monitor setup at 4k @60hz?

Thanks in advance!

Jumped on it right away when I saw one available for $24 shipped and sold by Amazon. I'll give it a try among my Dell laptop, Samsung Chromebook, and Samsung phones to see if the functionality works across those device.

I'm assuming it's a no go with the Switch?

Good luck!

It has a Realtek chipset. Doesn't the Switch need a ASIX AX88179?

How hot should these get? It's pretty warm powering a Surface with HDMI and ethernet only connected. It's a plastic shell so the cooling probably isn't ideal. So far, I don't see screen disconnects which I had with another adapter. I didn't yet test if the USB C connection works in both orientations. It doesn't on some hubs.

I was not aware of the Switch's specific requirements (thanks for noting those here!), but I had indeed read that it does have limited compatibility (Nintendo SHOCKER!).

If USB-C doesn't work in both orientations that would probably be a big indicator to me of some cost-cutting I'd want to avoid. I think you're in the right application with a Surface (something that doesn't also demand a lot of power itself). I can't decide if this would a great option for supporting a portable workstation setup (so part of a kit with a mouse & keyboard as well as a portable power brick) or something I'd leave plugged in all the time (about the only comparable device I trust that much is a one of those big brick Dell USB-C hubs).

Good luck!
Jon
