Been using Slickdeals since the 00's. The Walmart YMMV have never once been available within 100s of miles of me. I get the feeling some members are employees who discount junk they want and then post it 😂 seriously, none of this crap is ever a Slickdeal.

I know the feeling. But I'm not an walmart employee

Pretty sure WebOS is locked down as far as 3rd party apps are concerned. On my LG B8 running WebOS, I have no trouble playing video files from USB sticks, with subtitle streams and all. WebOS does have the Plex app though...

If compared to Roku options, I'd say the biggest benefit is the availability of wired ethernet streaming for those who have that option. You can't get a Roku with wired ethernet connectivity at the $15-$25 price range. Don't get me wrong, I love my Roku TV, but I just prefer the reliability of wired connectivity when available.
This makes me feel really old, my Roku has Ethernet port I never really used since it's near my router.

If this was a 4K player, I'd run to every Walmart in the state and buy them all.
You'd be wasting a huge amount of time going out on wild goose chases (been there, done that), looking for the firesale price blu ray player that Brickseek says is "in stock" only to find that their aren't any even after asking someone in the electronics area to check stock and look in the back for you. Maybe you'd find 1 or 2 once for every 20 Walmart stores you visit.

I had an older LG Blu Ray player whose tray started getting stuck. I could pry it open with a pick tool and push it back in, and sometimes it would work a while, but I finally got tired of wrestling it. So I bought a "Used - Very Good condition" Sony BDP-6700 (top of the line non-4K) from Amazon for $38.50 and it came in brand new condition. Having the tray get stuck like that on an otherwise perfectly working player put a bad taste in my mouth for LG players.

I try to avoid putting streaming devices on wireless if I don't have to. I made sure to have all the ethernet ports in place when our house was built so every single 4K TV in our house has wired networking.

There were 2 of these in stock at the Exton, PA Walmart last week if anyone in the area wants one.

I happened to see them and thought perhaps my in-laws who are about 10 years behind in adopting tech would want one, but then realized it was wired only, and from the box seemed like the only way to stream was the to use an app and passed.

buy the player if its not to late so it can be a dedicated blu, dvd, cd player. NO reason to have it on to stream all day or a few hours. Come thanksgiving..buy the amazon stick for 25 or a ruko stick and let that be a dedicated streamer..if it goes hot and out, just replace that unit in time.

Not everything is available via streaming...or it becomes cost prohibitive to stream paying per episode of a series one likes. Purchasing a box DVD set on eBay can be the better choice. I have two of these LG Blu-ray players for that very reason.

I already own a Blu-ray player (from 2010) that I hardly ever use anymore, and have the $147 TCL 55" Roku TV Walmart deal from last November, the $5 Fire 4k stick from Cyber Monday and 2 other older fire sticks, so I truly have no need for this, just wanted to alert anyone that does where they could find them.
