Baking soda and vinegar combine to make an inert salt. A foamy inert salt. It does nothing. And no, the foaming action doesn't create more pressure on clogs since the top of the drain is open and is this not a sealed system. The reason why this concoction clears pipes sometimes is because the boiling water makes oily clogs more viscous.

It's a good price for what it is, but if you want a drain cleaner that works in a flash (and for routine maintenance every so often), get Thrift. The T-200 is 2 lbs. and is about $19. or so at Amazon, not cheap, but worth it. Repped, OP.

I had a plumber recommend Thrift many years ago. He said everything else is junk. But he warned me that you have to follow the directions, or it'll set up like concrete and ruin your pipes.

Only use this if you have PVC pipes, it will eat away your iron pipes. Most homes built in the last 20 years are PVC. Even then it's always good to buy a drain snake. They cost like 20 bucks and you don't have to use liquids.
