RTNGS.COM's Verdict:
"8.1 Mixed Usage
The Hisense U6G is a great TV for most uses. It's a great TV for watching sports or TV shows in a bright room unless you have a wide seating arrangement or watch with a large group of people. It's also a great choice for watching movies in SDR or HDR in a dark room, but it can't get very bright in HDR. It's also an impressive gaming TV, with low input lag and a great response time, but it doesn't support any advanced gaming features, like HDMI 2.1 or variable refresh rate technology (VRR), which may disappoint those looking to game on the latest consoles."

So heres the TLDR. If you just need a big cheaper screens for movies/netflix this is a great deal.

If you need something for next gen gaming (ps5/series x) the U7G is fully compatible. U6G is not

If you want the absolute best picture quality and something for next generation gaming, the U8G is the one.
Samsung deliberately named it that to create consumer confusion, to conflate the two.

Basically all TVs nowadays, excepting OLED, use LED backlighting. The Q part stands for Quantum dots, which are particles that augment existing display tech. It allows for better color fidelity and range. Other than that, QLED tvs are just regular LCD tvs.

Quantum dots aren't a type of TV; ex: Samsung is planning on adding quantum dots to LG OLED panels though, which they want to use to tide them over until microLED tech is feasible and cheap enough to mass market.

This is very tempting.....I was waiting for the U7G, but that one will be $1500 when BB actually gets it in. It is currently listed as "Coming Soon".

Thanks OP, I was looking for a TV for my basement. I would've preferred the Roku version, but I guess this will work. I can add a ROKU plugin if I want.

This may be a dumb question.
I know it doesn't have VRR or 2.1, but would this still make the Xbox series x look good?
I'm not a hardcore gamer but I would like to enjoy some new games. Currently using the Xbox on an old old tv that really needs to be updated, I tried to buy the Q80t during that last micro center sale but I missed it so I'm just in the "waiting for a sale on a decent tv" phase now.

It kind of depends on how long you plan to use this TV for. Right now, I don't think it'll make much difference since a lot of games don't really take advantage of it. But later in this generational cycle, we might see more games that are 120fps.
