Is this the 5.25" that needs its own power supply?

Edit: never mind, I see it's a portable 2.5" .

I have shucked this model previously and installed into a laptop's 2.5" bay, but it was a tight squeeze. The bare drive is 9mm thick

This post said PlayStation. I have ps5 finally and storage is the worst thing possible with this system. (I'm a Xbox owner for years…)

Any experience/advice for a PS5 storage problem? Will this work reliably?

Are you sure it was 9mm? I thought this was twice thick as older 2.5". I think it was 15mm

Is that brand better than this one?

Same brand. Not sure if it's a different model than this, though. I just saw it in the Costco coupon mailer today. I just remember the price is from 8/04-8/29, I believe.

This drive will allow you to store/play PS4 games off of it. This includes the PlayStation Collection included if you have PSPlus.

As of right now, you can only store PS5 games on am external drive. If you want to actually play them, you would have to transfer them over to the PS5's internal SSD.

So if you play a lot of PS4 games that are taking up space on your PS5, this would be beneficial for you. There will be an update sometime in the near future that allows users to install an internal SSD into their PS5 which will allow for you to store/play both PS4 and PS5 games off of. However, these drives will be much more expensive.

Looks like the Costco one is:

Hard to tell the difference except the patterns on the case

I had the ps5 since December. Storage is the worst. This should work no problem. Install all your ps4 games on this if you buy it and ps5 games on internal hard drive. Don't delete ps5 games. You can now store them on these hard drives. Space will always be problem for ps5 games until you drop 100 plus on a special ps5 ssd. Have fun with it. also try not to use sleep mode there's a bug that shuts it off not sure if it's fixed that can corrupt the hard drives

I will never buy anything from this company again. I bought the 6TB version of this and got the dreaded click in less than a month. Lost so much important and irreplaceable data. The sorrow drove me back to DVD-Rs.
