I got really excited as this was exactly what I needed for my HTPC set up -- until I read the reviews. Yikes. Sounds like this thing is riddled with disconnect issues, phantom keys, unresponsive track pad, stiff joystick which somehow is also overly sensitive... I think I'll stay away unfortunately.

I have the K830. It is OK. Feels pretty cheap, not very good to type on, and trackpad is ok. Yet it gets the job done without any issues. Sadly they stopped selling the really good one, the DiNovo Edge. I had that for about a decade before it died and it was great. Cost like $150, but was worth it. Great to type on, built solid, came with its own charging stand, and the trackpad was great.

I've used a K830 for a few years now on a living room HTPC and it's not bad once you get used to it. It's small enough to sit on your lap while your on the couch and park it in a drawer or on a shelf when not in use. Yet big enough that you dont feel like your on a laptop while typing. The light up keys are nice in a dark room and the battery lasts a month or two between charges. The trackpad is a bit finnicky but not bad once you get the hang of it. I was able to resolve connectivity issues by putting the USB receiver on an extender cable and moving it up on a shelf instead of directly plugged into the PC. The only way I could get the pad to scroll in the correct direction was through regedit, it ignores the regular windows settings.

I've been using the K83 for over a year now and physically, it's a really solid keyboard for a HTPC setup, arguably one of the best on the market for that purpose.

The trouble is, from a software standpoint, it can be a huge pain, both between Windows controls (non-existent), and Corsair's own ICUE software (the latest version 4 of the app is absolute garbage for this keyboard) but even on older versions, you may need to completely uninstall and reinstall the app to get your custom configuration back. Many of these same issues are fairly common across similar wireless multimedia keyboards, especially with touchpads, so there doesn't seem to be a huge tradeoff in that department right now.

As far as connection drops, I've had just 2 the entire time I've owned it, but they're rather easy to fix with a physical reset on the keyboard. Beyond that (admittedly, annoying) it's actually been a pretty solid keyboard for my HTPC setup, and I've yet to find a better alternative in recent years.

Logitech blew it by not making a version of the MX Keys with a trackpad. That's a solid metal chassis keyboard with rock solid wireless, backlighting. I know they want you to pair it with their MX mouse line, but if they had a deluxe version with a trackpad it would be large but frikkin awesome.

For HTPC or 'entertainment' use, this is the correct answer. Its regularly $15, works great, supports gestures, great battery life, I cannot imagine what this does that would justify a 5x price difference. Joystick? Use a controller, you arent gonna be using this for gaming. Mic would have been nice.

I have the logitech k830 for the pc hooked up to our living room TV and it is FANTASTIC! I don't think it would work for gaming (because it has a trackpad) but it is excellent for everything else.

The touchpads on these were too small for my liking.

I found Microsoft's keyboard works better.
