Yes you will loose the credit. And that's how they will keep you locked for next few years.

Not necessarily true - I paid off my daughters phone early (got it last July - she went back to Korea, needed it unlocked) and I'm still getting the credit.

Wrong. They will stop deducting the monthly credit as soon as you paid off the installment. So, you're stuck for 3 years.

You would still be stuck with AT&T if they keep giving you the credit. No matter if you pay off the phone or not, you will have to stay with AT&T for all 3 years or you would lose part of your credit.

Only T-Mobile does that I believe.

AT&T / Verizon require you to have the monthly phone payments for the full term to continue the bill credits.

Thats cause you still kept an account with them, if you were to leave you would lose it all.

I want to upgrade my Note 20 Ultra 5G to this but thank the lord Samsung is out of the S-Pen case currently so I am holding off. These phones should be on swappa for around low $1Ks shortly after release.

I am so bummed. I lost my Note 20 Ultra on a fishing trip 2 weeks ago and replaced it. Wish I knew about this deal.

an overpriced unlimited plan is what kills it. Guessing 3 years is required too
Depends if you have a family plan and discount. If you have 4-5 lines. And fan discounts. It comes out to $30-37.5 a line depending on fan discount with unlimited. I currently pay 4/$150 for unlimited elite no throttle /40gb hotspot with HBO max. If I get 5 lines it's $168. Not a bad deal plus $20 roughly in taxes.

But if you have 1-2 lines definitely prepay is better option.

Yup the wants and so called need of owning a smartphone has gotten ridiculous. Best to just ignore the trend.

For those who qualify and aren't planning to switch providers, this is a stupid good deal.
