There will always be problems with an item and sometimes with the user.
I bought a floor display
chainsaw and battery at Home Depot when it was closing out Ego. The battery was dead. I called Ego and the CSR had me plug the battery into the charger and tell her what I saw. She agreed the battery was dead and sent me a better replacement battery and I had it within a week.
I have the one model lower blower and love it and am thinking about buying this one too.
Some of the Top reviews mention that Ego refused to honor the warranty because the blower was purchased from an unauthorized seller. That is on the buyer, not Ego.
A purchase from an unauthorized seller could mean that the item was possibly defective when sold and cannot be controlled by Ego since it is outside of its normal channels.
There could have been a bad batch of blowers, but in my experience Ego Customer Service is great.

What's bad that you have read? I have the 650 and can give you an honest opinion

I don't understand. The reviews on Amazon are overwhelmingly positive with 93% 4 and 5 stars and only 5% 1 and 2 stars.

Consider that if you compared a Ryobi 40V battery to an EGO 56V of the same amperage, let's use 5A, the EGO battery will always produce more wattage - Ohms law at play here...the Ryobi 40V battery @ 5A produces 200 watts, the EGO 56V battery @ 5A produces 280 watts.
I personally own this, bought it at Lowe's and it's amazing. No issues, extremely powerful. I'll never go back to gas blowers

2.0 out of 5 stars Good blower when it works; lousey customer service

Style: 650 CFM Blower Kit
I bought the EGO leaf blower 650 CFM in late April. Initially, the blower worked great and was a 5 star product. I registered the product immediately upon receipt. After 2 months of twice weekly residential use, the blower died. The battery was fully charged, the speed control was OFF, so these were not the issues. I called EGO customer service. A representative finally answered after I was kept on hold for 30 minutes. The representative suggested I try a couple of things which I did - still no function. I was asked to send a copy of my original receipt and I should receive a replacement bare tool within two weeks. I emailed a copy of my receipt as requested.
Eleven days later I called EGO customer service again, to check on the status of my warranty claim. This time I waited 25 minutes for a rep to answer. I was told by the rep that EGO had not received the copy of the receipt, so while the representative held on the line, I sent a second copy of the receipt. The representative acknowledged receiving the receipt.
A few days later I was sent an email from EGO asking that I return the defective unit. The message indicated a shipping label was attached. NO, no shipping label was attached to the message. I communicated this back to EGO both by email and by a telephone voice mail message. I have yet to receive the return shipping label or the replacement blower.
The email messages I received from EGO offered me, via a link to force.com, the opportunity to give feedback on my EGO customer service experience. When I clicked the link Ito ego.force.com, I was directed to the force.com site but was unable to access the survey as I was told I would need to log in or register on the site before being directed to the survey.
I loved the blower for the 2 months that it worked. It's been a long time sine I have encountered such poor and inefficient customer service. If you choose to purchase this item, pray that you don't need to make a warranty claim.

2.0 out of 5 stars Used once (10 minutes) then EGO 650 unit failed...returned their "newest technology" product
Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2020
Style: 650 CFM Blower Kit
I bought the newest EGO leaf blower 650 CFM, used it for 10 minutes yesterday and placed it in my workshop. It cost me $300+tax. First thing this morning I went to the EGO website and registered the blower, battery and charger units. Then I went to use the blower and it would not start...let's say it clicked once and then nothing happened. The battery was fully charged overnight. The speed control was in OFF, so that was not issue. I looked at the online help and on the EGO site to see what to do...tried whatever suggested but no good results. The EGO customer service did not respond on phone or online. [Issues with website and/or customer service?]
I was very pleased with the 10-minutes of use I got from the new 650 machine, but returned it this morning in its original packaging. I do believe there can be flukes when it comes to electronic equipment, batteries, etc.; all can't be perfect every time and QA/QC cannot always find the process/problem area, so I'm giving you this feedback. BUT, I'm seeing several online commentators with same issue of short use and then failure of their 650. Originally, I did prefer the EGO 650 because it's being sold as the 'newest technology', then I bought one and it failed on second use...and because the return policy was easy I returned the 650 today. I do prefer the 650 as a better machine ergonomically and with the power. So, I bought the EGO 530 blower; another of their products that have been on the shelf for a few years. Let's see what happens in coming days regarding this new 530 unit, or if it was a dumb decision.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete failure after 15 minutes

There is a terrific sadness upon being born as an EGO Power+ LB6504 650 CFM Variable-Speed 56-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Leaf Blower.
You were bred as the alpha male of leaf blowers. And your training is rigorous. From the start they drill into you two "core truths": 1) Leaves are low-lives and 2) You, leaf blower, must cleanse them from this earth - no matter what it takes. Your training seems endless, however effective.
But the sadness.
The sadness is like an ambient noise. It is always there, present. You can't remember a time when it wasn't there -taunting you in the background. Slowly, eating away at you. Sometimes you get lost in a depressive haze thinking about it. "15 minutes. I better make them count" you say to yourself, mentally pacing and contemplative.
One day - you are called forward. You are assigned an address and you arrive at your your front in the war. Glistening, aromatic and proud as you are pulled out of the box - excited to fulfill your mission.
AND THEN THE RUSH.
The "owner" presses your on button. All of your training never prepared you for the RUSH. Your rage is unyielding and powerful. For 15 glorious minutes you get lost in the euphoria of stacked leaf corpses. Unmitigated happiness....
and death.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I, legit, used this thing for 15 minutes one usage. Charged it. And it would not work again on the second use. This is an expensive leaf blower. I'm not gonna spend even a hot second trying to debug this or talk with anyone. That's why I paid $350 for a leaf blower. SO IT WORKS.
Back to Amazon with you. Good riddance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only worked for 10 minutes

I literally just got this and it already stopped working. I read the reviews about this happening but thought maybe they were just unlucky. I unboxed, charged the battery to full, and tested it for 10 minutes. It worked great! I then tried to actually use it the next day. When I pressed the button, there was a *click* and nothing happened. Maybe fuse shorted? Battery is still green but the device doesn't turn on at all. Disappointing for so much $. Returning this one.

I bought this because it was rate as the very best cordless leaf blower by an independent review organization. I fully charged the battery and all indicators were green. However it would not operate. I called their customer service, followed their advice and still no blowing. Didn't even grunt.
Fora $300+ blower, I expected much better results. I highly recommend you NOT buy this blower.
