Decent price for mediocre quality socks.

I bought some based on reputation here, have replaced all 4 pairs within a year. They are comfortable, but holes formed in 2 pairs in the exact same spot. I haven't done any running in them, they wore out just from walks with my kids. Not sure why they don't work well for me.

Lifetime warranty is nice, but you have to pay to send them in.

Smartwool socks you submit pictures and they email you a gift card for their site. With that said, I'm done with Darn Tough.
I have multiple Darn Tough Socks with holes in them, just waiting for them all to get holes so I can return at one time. They definitely haven't lasted that long for me. Also they seem to constantly be shedding padding for me.
This is a solid deal on an outstanding brand. Went ahead and got an early jump on some Xmas gifting

This deal (or thereabouts) seems to come up a few times a year from GoBros - but still agree that it's a good deal for the brand. I do a lot of hiking in the winter months and they keep my feet toasty and still look/feel like new after a few years of use. Grabbing a few more! Thanks, OP!

Good stuff, might have to order a couple more pairs. A single pair costs more than a full pack of cheaper socks from costco, but well worth it.

Thanks for posting!!!

Any recommendations on model & sizing? I've read that they tend to shrink quite a bit.

Primary use would be ultralight backpacking. Secondary use would be local trail running, etc.

These two look tempting. Having a hard time deciding between them:
* Darn Tough Run/Endurance 1/4 Light Mens Socks (https://www.gobros.com/products/d...mens-socks)
* Darn Tough Hiker 1/4 Cushion Mens Socks (https://www.gobros.com/products/d...ens-socks)

Thanks!!!

not $10.50 but $13.50 for socks i ordered. regular price with "free" shipping. nothing special but i'm switching from overpriced thorlos. they don't make the socks i bought back in 2010 anymore. similar new socks would cost me $18, so i'll settle for $13.50 now before price goes up. Not a deal, just a cheaper alternative.

Someone in the previous thread when these were on sale said they warranty them to a physical store that sells this brand. I don't see that on their web site. Can you do that to avoid return shipping?

I've been wearing Smartwool socks exclusively for at least 10 years. My wife recently tried darn tough and can't stop talking about them, so now I'm going to try them.

As far as a warranty goes, I've never used the smartwool warranty, but it appears to only last for 2 years according to the site, and none of my smartwool pairs ever wore out in that time. Darn Tough is a lifetime warranty, which seems cool but I wonder if I'd use it... I suppose of they wore out sooner than expected I might.

I've actually darned a few pairs of my smartwools, but that takes time.
Anyways. Interesting. I love smartwool. Hoping I'll love DT too.

I call bullshit on this, (they don't wear out)I wear mine to work everyday for the past three years, these do not wear out like swiftwick or the old Patagonia Marino wool socks. I never got a hole in one,

But I may be mistaken, I only wear the medium hikers, I guess theoretically one could be wearing a different fit and get a different result… sorry

I personally believe they run a tad small...so I wear a 10.5 to 11 shoe and get xlarge. I've never had any shrink yet. I got the low ankle style hiker.....the other styles may be different.
Just my experience....I got the low cushion, really like them over the years.
