Not really a great deal, but it's OK for a few pieces in it.

No thumbs down for fishing deals, but this isn't something I would recommend anyone buy even as a starter kit.

This will generally be thrown away. The jig heads are probably fine, but honestly for someone who is buying a "starter kit", is way better off just going to their local tackle shop and buy what the people recommend. For a few bucks, they will get you setup with something you will actually use and probably catch fish with.

Absolute waste of $...fishing isn't a sport to start super cheap with, you will only be frustrated and never do it again. Get decent gear, don't need to spend $100s, but decent gear and you will enjoy it!

Whatever you do, don't get this. Yeah, grubs and swim baits work, but the box looks like it's just for storage.

Walmart has some good prices on most fishing stuff. Depending on where you are, you can get rigged up pretty cheap with something that works on more than just the sea bass that you might encounter on the docks. Here in southern California, a carolina rig 2-3 inch gulp sandworm will catch you some nice fish to eat from the shore.

Living on a large body of water and I still haven't learned to fish believe it or not.. everyone else is on their docks almost daily fishing.

Do you think this would do well for bass fishing? I know it says salt water, just not sure if any of it would work in fresh water.

Also, is that case any good? It appears cheaply made.

I wouldn't mess with this set for bass fishing. What almost always works for us when we're bass fishing is a Ned Rig, and Z-Man's lures are super tough. I've caught several fish on the same lure because they're made so well. Something like this would be what I'd have as a go to for bass because when they aren't biting on anything else, bass, bream and even trout bite these [basspro.com].

If you're going with live bait, get some decent hooks, line weight and a bobber or two if you want them, then use nightcrawlers. Bream may hit them, too, but a good big nightcrawler is great for bass.

Last but not least, I caught a 6 pound bass this year on a Whopper Plopper [amazon.com] top water lure. Not sure where you are but bass like to strike at them late in the afternoon. Walmart has their Ozark Trail Whopper Plopper-like lure [walmart.com] cheaper and works fine, too. For $4.88 it's well worth trying out!
