So you can probably change the 8gb chip for a 16gb and end up with 20gb if you wanted. Vendors max memory is not usually a true limit. The soldered memory is 4gb.

the plus:
Display is sharp.
sound is loud
the negs:
mousepad sucks - cheap feel when you click
slightly heavier build for a ssd laptop
fan kicks off for the slightest of tasks
opening an explorer window took a second+, but on setting windows for optimal performance, started to open up instantaneously
sound while loud, feels slightly jarring
not too impressed, but im getting this as a gift for parents for regular use and for a $500 laptop seems to tick off a few basic things - ssd, intel i5+, 12+ ram, fingerprint reader, usb-c port, etc
Man, they do have engineers at lenovo... they probably save $1 for that DIMM slot, about 15-20 grams in total weight. Reducing failure rates? How many laptops do you know that failed module-to-slot connection? Agree with you that they should include 2 slots and stay away from the soldered option. But at the same time SOME people that complain about soldered ram are probably trying to use a sub-$500 laptop for gaming. Cough up the extra $1000 and get a real gaming laptop!
Yes.. it does.. you will get 4 years warranty
I'm trying to use my 50 off on 500 for buying this

Hope it helps you too.
Not well versed with tech these days. Wondering if anyone could share some insight as to which would be a better deal:

See it in person. Looks nice on the screen. In person, this laptop is a piece of plastic trash not even worth $500.
The internals might be decent but the plastic and build quality is as good as those chinese plastic tablets from aliexpress
