Skil is owned by Chervon, a Chinese tool company. Used to be part of the Bosch/Siemens Group. Under Bosch it was a low end brand similar to Ryobi. However now, this is considered Chevron's mid/high tier brand which is supposed to compete with Milkwaukee (TTI) and Dewalt (Stanley Black and Decker).

Chervon makes Ego lawn tools so yes they make decent tools. They also make the Kobalt line for Lowes I believe

...What. SKIL has been around forever, so much so they are the namesake of 'skil saw.' Nearly 40 years before Menard's even existed.

I have personally owned a set of the skil battery tools I believe back when I owned the 4 different tools, they were 19.2 volt, but out of the drill, skil saw,jig saw and hand sander they all held up really well, and could handle any job I threw at them with no problems,I got about 3 years out of a set of batteries, then replaced with new ones, but eventually I moved over to craftsmans brand, and I honestly could tell no difference in the 2 name brands, but regardless of what tier they put them at,they were for the money,as good as any I have owned

Skil is a very well established brand. Started decades ago with saws.

Then into the other devices.

Their recent lineup are the PWRCore 12v, 20v, and 40v line of power tools to be in the 1 battery-multiple tools marketplace.

Key pluses:
1. JUMP charge rapid-charging feature.
For a quick 25% charge, only 5 minutes needed, so even with a fully drained battery, it doesn't take long to keep going (12v).
2. Usb charging port.
Batteries act like a powerbank to charge your phone. Very convenient.
Charger also has a port.
3. Brushless motor
More powerful, longer runtimes

4. EBAY!!!!!
Amazon has Skil sales during the year, esp black Friday, and people who already have some items in a cheap bundle dump them on ebay cheap!
E.g. 12v multitool $30~ new ebay

5. Very competitive.
While some may automatically go for Milwaukee Fuel at first, for the home user / lighter tool end of the spectrum, the Skils are very competitive.

Yes, not a Dewalt etc for all day very heavy construction work, but that's why there's high end makes.

Do the research and you'll find it to be among the better of the consumer-level tools, with features some others don't have (e.g. Led light on the multitool, easy blade changes and wide compatibility).

....

Anyways, the charger + battery or with tool are often cheaper on ebay than buying charger, battery, then tools separately.
