If you never played JA, I would highly recommend you not try it now.
Definitely one of my top ten fave PC games of all time, but even for me, and even trying every single modern mod/remake(ish) of this amazing game, it's hard, very hard to get past the 90's interface in 2021.
I personally consider JA and especially JA2 to be a better game than the OG X-Coms (though i loved those as well).
If an old game deserves a GOOD modernization, it's this title IMO.
Sir-tech went out of business which is sad, but it produced some of the absolute best RPG games for PC in the Wizardry series. I know they have re-released some of them to a more "modern" approach, but honestly the re-release was clanky at best.
I can't tell you the number of hours i put into Wizardry 7, multiclassing every character and ending as Ninja.
Cheers,
