I'd prefer to have it when it's needed so I tend to buy now to save it until later. I doubt it'll get much cheaper. To me , having it ready and available trumps minor cost savings.

No, only swimming lights are approved for use on this model as only that plug will work/approved. Fishing lights require a NGFEWMC type plug/adapter/approval.

The 56235i may be a better option for $45 more.

You get
- 100w more running and starting power.
- 9 lb lighter
- very slightly more compact
- 2 db quieter
- maybe more fuel efficient (the spec on the 56235i webpage says 7 hour half-load run time. Manual says 5.7 hours). 56225i says 6 hours for both.

My neighbor evacuated for Ida. I had him purchase this generator as backup. It ran his fridge and freezer for 14 hours a day, on a single tank of gas. For 9 days straight. He's now buying an additional one to run in parallel. Can't beat it for the price. It's quieter than my Westinghouse 2500i. Power output isn't as much, but with two in parallel, should run a couple window units and fridges with ease, and super low fuel consumption.
You're not going to get much cheaper than this without getting complete garbage. This is already on the low end for price.
Maybe go look on Marketplace or Craigslist for a used one if this is above your budget. I see people selling the Harbor Freight Predator ones for cheap, sometimes.

I was on the fence between the two myself. Then I read the reviews for the 56235 and they weren't good. Many buyers say it smokes within 20 hours of use, badly smokes. It was enough for me to steer clear of that model.

Really? I was trying to find the reason why 56225i is always more expensive than 56235i if not for sale, since 56235i has much better specification

Go look at the label on your fridge and find wattage, this has about 2000 watts running. If it more than that, then its a no. Answer is likely yes though.
