It is not for everyone. But it works if you have small children and keep your knives in a drawer.

I use it when I take my knife to a camping trip. it is well constructed with locking.

protect blades from what?
other crap in your utensil drawer?
just us a knife handing bar magnet,
keeps them handy and out of the way.

I think the only reason to have one of these is if you are going to cart your knives around. it's basically a scabbard.

it would be really silly to have one on each of your knives in the drawer. for one, it's extremely inconvenient, and for another, it'll probably contribute to blade rust as humidity is trapped in there.

if you don't cart your knives around all day all the time, several layers of cardboard and tape make for a highly effective "blade vault", too.

I have three of these. One each for my Chef's knife, Santoku, and paring knife. I've been really pleased with these. I only ever use these three knives, so it's perfect for stashing them in a drawer. For me, it's better than having a knife block taking up counter space with knives I'll never use and better than a wall magnet, because I don't have to give up the counter space in front of where it would hang.

It's been very durable for me. The best advice I can give is to always make sure that you hand wash and then hand dry your knife before you put it in here. It can become a condensation trap if you put a wet blade in it and that's a leading cause of premature dulling. If you transport your knives often like for camping or bringing to a friend's house to cook, this is a great accessory because it protects you and the blade when packing and unpacking. My aunt is a professional home chef and uses these to carry her knives to client's houses.

I'm in for one at this price.
I have a few Victoriboxs and they are all great.
I also had to pay extra for a cover so this is a great deal.

Some people don't have space for a magnet (it blocks part of your counter if you want to set something in front of them) - some people don't want to use one, some people don't like the thoughts of seeing the knives sitting out like that. The world doesn't revolve around you, not everyone likes everything you do. In addition, some people take their knives places - so having this is very helpful.

And to top it off, I have a block (prefer over a magnet) where I keep the knives I use all the time. I have some extra, cheaper knives (victornox) I very rarely use - generally when I travel and don't want to use other peoples crappy knives - so I use this to keep those knives in a drawer.

A whole world of possibilities out there.

it is inconvenient to have them in a drawer, but not everyone has enough space for a block. The rest is silly - if your blades 'rust', you're doing it wrong. I'll take this over a homemade cardboard contraption, that's just silly.

Ordered this because packing my chefs knife for grilling in the park or at the lake in a shopping bag with a towel isn't great with kids around anymore.
