I tried this a few months back. Did not seem to work much for my corgi. It's very oily too. My dog liked it, but it's probably not healthy.
Fish oil, flaxseed oil, and wheat germ oil are "very oily"????
I don't know about the wheat germ, but the other 2 are good for dogs. I add to my pups food.
Dont they shed for a reason? Trust me, I have a 110# golden, I want less fur around. But would it make them overheat if they weren't shedding as much?
They explain it here. While some seasonal shedding is natural, a dog's excessive shedding can result from a diet lacking essential fatty acids or an imbalance of fatty acids in some commercially produced pet foods. Adding Shed-X nutritional supplement daily to your dog's food is guaranteed, with proper use, to eliminate excessive shedding in 3-5 weeks.
Beware if you are going to buy this, a reviewer said it has a lot of calories in it. " tablespoon has 345 calories and my dog needed 4 tablespoons so he was having almost 1400 calories a day in shed x. "

My dog is on a raw diet, after too many chronic ear infections and several other issues, it's been a God send. I was just curious, he only sheds more than the normal absurd amount seasonally and if he's got fleas
I have a husky, shedding is a natural part of his coat renewal process. That said, I do supplement his food with a fish oil, which he seems to like. I first started it in response to a couple spots he had hair loss - vet said ???? (e.g. no parasite, not a hot spot, etc) and just kept it up:
yes it's expensive ~ $45, but at the recommended dose rate for him (70 lb), I am just now thinking of ordering another bottle, more than 6 months later (bottle probably lasts 7 months for him).
If you are just starting feeding your dog either of these (basically fish oil with vit/min), you can probably expect loose stools as their GI adapts. Might want to use some pumpkin for a week or 2 when you give this to help counteract the loose stool effect.
He's only still a puppy (11 months) and given feedback from other husky owners on the immense amount of shedding they see, I've been wondering if our pup is just a low shedder, or maybe it's a puppy coat thing, but it could also be that for all but 2 months we've had him, he's been on the fish oil. He DOES shed, and I vacuum once a week to keep the tumbleweeds down, but compared with other huskies, he hardly sheds it seems.
Tried this, 0/10 do not recommend. Did not serve my purposes and I'm out in the doghouse myself now. Learn from my mistake and put it in a different bottle before suggesting your wife use it.
