FYI
1- Make sure you get the right ram because it is almost impossible to upgrade.
2- The R10 is really really really loud. I mean the fans.
3- If you planning to add Gen 4 nvme ssd. Forget it. It will lower the speed down to gen3 even though the R10 manual says it's gen4
You have experience with upgrading R10? Were you able to do better speeds?

Would the base configuration of this at just over $1k be that bad given the typical pricing and supply challenges these days? The power supply seems disappointing, but at least upgradeable? Otherwise the CPU and GPU seem acceptable for the price(?).
Good luck!

If you are talking about the walmart deal, It sometimes comes back in stock week to week. I purchased one 2 weeks ago before it was posted on SD a few times, and it was in stock on Monday, but now out of stock again.
Just keep checking back for in stock.
That $1000 Asus PC may also have ventilation issues for gaming, & the GPU is in a lot lower class than this PC at $1700. The cpu is a toss up :5700g vs 5600x, with 5600x being better, and a much faster newer 3080 gpu compared to a last gen 2060super in the other.
But that's what a $700 savings looks like..
SD always has similar deals every couple weeks with similar cpus (ryzen 5 5600x/ ryzen7 5700g) range of $900 to $1200 deals on Desktop PCs but usually with RTX 3060s.
