You can use any dry, straight lumber that fits our brackets and is strong enough to build a pergola. By design, our products allow you the freedom to choose your preferred wood to suit your build and budget.
All of our brackets require only 2 screws per side (every set of eight holes), we leave the other holes open for future accessories
Included in the kit: 4x TRIO corner brackets, 6x SOLO base brackets, 2x QUAD extension brackets, 2x graphite shade sails of chosen sizes, #12 x 1-1/2 in. Pan Rob/Phil combo drive 304 S.S Wood screw with Black plastic head caps

This is Toja grid and they are pricey but the stuff is pretty nice quality. I actually paid a lot more this when I built my pergola.

The base brackets are $100 for a 4-pack, so let's say $150 for the six. I'll be kind and say the two tarps, er sails, are $50 each. That means the top brackets average $75 apiece? $700 seems steep for a kit that doesn't include the posts or beams, and this is a savings of over $300?? You could pay someone $1000 to build something like this, and not have to worry about assembling it yourself.
