I agree generator is not a good term for this, but UPS is definitely terrible as well, UPS's do not last long at all (at least a consumer version in this price range), and are just as their name suggests, to avoid power "interruptions" so for very short time periods, not to actually power a device as it's sole power source.
It's not that simple, it's generally sold as part of a pair with a solar panel. These batteries are intended to work with them. You can use just any old battery pack sure, but you're going to lose a lot of efficiency, and you're going to need a lot of them.
Battery packs are expensive. I've been waiting on a good deal on this or the Jackery for months now.
Amazon ran out of them.
