Do you feel the same way about google, facebook, amazon, most wi'fi setups, most cell phones, mobile applications, and likely the parent company of this website?

There are technical issues that happen.
I have some of their 365 day models, and two of them that see maybe 1 or 2 events a day still have 55 percent battery after 460 days.

I've had this camera since June and it required recharging after 3 months despite being plugged into a eufy solar panel. I also have the 2C cameras which remain at 100% with solar panels plugged in. This one doesn't charge as well but works perfectly fine.

My Nest cameras are awesome. Yes, they are expensive, and cloud recording requires a small subscription fee, but I have no complaints.

I'm looking to install a basic WiFi security camera pointed outside from a window or just outside a window on the ledge to keep an eye on our cars (I've been restoring one of them and it's been attracting some attention and the kind of car that car thieves would want to steal, and I don't have anywhere to park it privately). It doesn't have to be fancy, just able to transmit live video, no audio needed, so I can monitor and say record the last X hours on a continuous "loop", via some web site, app or PC SW.

What's the least I should expect to pay for one, including the SW, and what do folks here recommend? Is this a decent option for this application, or are there better ones? And how do these compare to setting up a similar setup using a Raspberry Pi with attached camera? I bought both a while back but never got around to setting them up. Access to an AC outlet is not an issue so it won't need batteries or solar or anything like that. And I'm fairly technically proficient, e.g. Linux.

That said, if there's a reasonably affordable solution that does use batteries and solar and is therefore completely wireless, I'd consider it, including using an RPi.

I have tried quite a few Night Vision security cameras (wired) in this price range and they all seem to suck when capturing night tone motion. The frames per second seems to drop considerably. While still objects look clear, anything with motion look fuzzy as hell.

Can someone suggest a wired camera that captures movement at night with clarity? One important criteria, I don't want to pay any subscription.

Thanks!!

I would not buy this camera. It runs on batteries and that has only 8GB storage.
1. Either use a "Power over Ethernet" if you at all can, or use solar. Some cameras come with solar panel. NO BATTERIES
2. Then, get a camera that accepts SD card, and install at least 128GB. That is $15.
3. Get 4k 8MPix resolution. Cost very little extra. Allows good zoom and pan within the picture.
4. Get camera that can be ordered with different lenses. Most have from 2.8mm to 12mm
5. Never get a bullet camera. It is very easily vandalized. Even inside if you have a break-in. Use a dome with vandal proof polycarbonate dome.
6. Good compression Pick H.265 (+)
5. No DVR. just use the onboard SD card, and free software on PC

Example:
HikVision DS-2CD2183G0 or ds-2cd2185fwd ( at $134:
- PoE
- 4k, 8MPix
- 128GB SD card as well as NAS
- IK10 vandalism protection
128gb is overkill. My driveway has 8gb built in. I have it set on the highest motion and cover just into the street (so see cars coming one way, but I also live on a culdesac). Im 11 days in and havent used half the storage. And I have had people doing work at my house coming back and forth from their vehicles. I have to have at least 500 records easily (few days it showed 99+ as notifications (thats what it shows once it exceeds 99).

I guess we disagree. If you record all events in 8MPix video you fill up 128MB in a few months. Why go with lowres 4 frames per sec or pix only to save $10? They day you need it, it can be worth thousands. So dont skimp on this.

You reference a camera that costs $134 (though Amazon has the two cameras you reference at $190 & $210), this one is $70. Little more than $10. Also, for most people ease of use is just as important as quality. I have had ring, arlo and now eufy. Most people want to be able to look at the cameras on their phones, and the apps for these three are all pretty simple to use. How do you view these cameras from a mobile device?

No complaints on paying monthly rent (subscription) on the nest cameras?

that's a totally different use-case... somebody looking at anything wirefree, doesn't want to run wires or can't. obviously anything PoE will be better, that's a no-brainer... but you know what isn't better? the wires Wink

also not sure how 134$ is the same as 70$ in your mind...

How does this compare to the blink outdoor wireless camera? Which costs about $50 and I already have the central storage unit, thanks

FAQ in description states this cam cannot record 24/7. Is this true? If so, that's a deal breaker.

It only records when an event happens / motion is detected. For example, I can't just open the app and rewind to 3:45pm yesterday and fast forward through the day.

This is a battery powered camera with 8GB embedded storage. It 24/7 detects motion and then starts recording the rolling window (N-seconds before motion, N-seconds after motion) to its internal storage. If you had your way, ignoring the fact that camera would run out of battery every two days, it'd require about 1TB onboard storage.

How? Roughly 0.2MB per second at 15 frames per second, a two month storage on camera would mean:

Code:
86,400 (seconds a day) * 61 (two months) * 0.2MB/sec ~= 1TB.

I wish the code worked with the 2K resolution E40 model. I am getting away from these 1080's
