If you play at US peak hours (7pm-2am EDT on weekdays), it's totally fine, except for the coop vs. AI mode, which is mostly dead (though there are Discord groups that do it together regularly if you really want to play it). If you play at strange hours you may have some trouble, though there's still a decent EU contingent. The Australian/Asian players have trouble, though.

You can give one to a friend and play multiplayer I guess.

If you get VR sickness it's because you're body isn't moving with what your eyes see. To counter this you can get a motion simulator. I use a Next Level Racing Motion Platform V3, but there are others on the market if you want to really geek out in the star wars universe.

I mean that or you know... just point a fan at your face. Depends on the budget I guess.

I never got motion sick. I think the problem is most people have either weak PCs, or have the settings way too high making the framerates and frametimes in VR poor, or have non stop reprojection.

Free through Amazon prime twitch gaming. Excited to try the VR out
I paid ~$40 a year ago and was excited to play it with VR. I don't want to poo-poo it for you because you might love it, but I came in with high hopes after playing SNES Star Wars games as a kid- but I couldn't stand the gameplay, VR or not.

Maybe it's just polarizing because some people love it while others don't.. I'm glad y'all can give it a try for free/cheap to figure out which camp you're in.

It's a really good game but it's a shame that these super sale deals are only for origin and not steam keys.
This is purely people flipping their free Amazon Prime key.

They list VR as one of the genres in the description. But I've never used VR. Someone please confirm Origin is not an issue for Oculus or whatever. I would only buy this for future VR.
I was able to play with my Oculus Quest 1 with SW:S. Connect via ALVR and switch to VR mode in game, it auto connects. Though, idk, it's not what I expected. Haven't gone back after trying half of Mission 1 lol

I don't understand. If you had the worst motion sickness that you ever had and felt nauseated for a staggering two days, how can you also say that it is amazing? Unless you are saying that VR generally - but not in this game - is amazing, or unless you were being sarcastic?
Sorry that my wording was confusing. The VR experience was so much fun I didn't stop when I started feeling a little queasy. That was dumb on my part because it quickly progressed to severe nausea.

I have a midrange gaming PC, but I know next to nothing about VR. What would be some compatible VR models to consider? I guess I had just considered VR too immature a technology to take seriously yet. This thread is making me think it's time to jump into VR now. Thanks in advance.

I played this with my oculus quest 2 and ROG G14 RTX 2060 and it plays great! It really brings back memories of X-wing and Tie-fighter wars from when I was a kid. The gameplay is a little different as back then you used a flight stick and a keyboard. I played through this with an X-box controller which is a little more challenging. I was using the Xbox subscription to play it and so I just bought the .80$ key to permanently add this to my library. Thanks OP!

People have been giving away absolutely amazing games for years now, generally hoping to get you to buy something else later.

Oculus Quest 2 is a great buy at $300. It's owned by Facebook, and the OQ2 is responsible for a huge surge in VR popularity over the last year. Because it's Facebook, and b/c you have to use a FB account with it, they can sell a high quality headset for cheap.

A game like this is considered PCVR, which means your computer runs it, and spits the VR graphics out to the unit, either with a special USB cable, or wirelessly with the free AirLink utility, that Oculus provides.

The OQ2 is primarily marketed as a standalone unit, meaning it runs tons of games natively on the headset, without the need for a PC. Using a PC opens the door to more demanding VR games, if your PC can handle it.

There are quite a few other options, but OQ2 is overall the biggest selling headset right now. Pros and cons to each model.
