Hmm, this is not bad deal at all. I don't like the 8GB RAM, but for $685 and latest CPU and Iris Xe for a good ultraportable, seriously not bad deal at all.
8 gb is fine for basic users. Not sure what all the flame is. I run PowerPoint, word and run electronic medical records and that's it.
Most hospital computers are 8gb and we can run our daily tasks just fine.
No editing or gaming. 8gb is fine. I do agree the soldered is pretty shitty. I'll have to check is this the older model 16:9 or 16:10

My desktop has 32gb and I can use that for other high end tasks

*edit ahh it's the older model 9305
Pretty sure it's soldered. That's why I got 16gb. This is a very nice price if you don't need 16gb or an i7.

Looks mostly nice, but that 8GB of RAM is going to be a killer. That's barely enough today (especially since it's shared with a somewhat powerful iGPU) and it's only going to become a bigger problem as time goes on.

Why do they keep launching these 8gb laptops. My phone has almost twice that.

Is this powerful enough to play games like Fortnite or Apex? Looking for one for my son. Hoping to find a laptop that I can connect to a monitor at home but still allow it to be portable for visiting family.

Fornite should be OK but probably not apex. Apex needs a dedicated GPU or the experience would be terrible

1135G7 has 80 EU graphic
which is about Vega 7 level graphic.
good enough for 720P medium or low settings for most games, as long as you are okay with 30 fps.
