I've had a few Hisense TVs over the last few years and I would probably go with the Sony. Currently have the H8G and it has a great display but just over a year in the TV is having serious software issues with lag and slowdown. At least a few times per week the TV refuses to power on until I physically unplug it and plug it back in. Hisense support has been no help either. I trust Sony with better software and a better ability to stand by their products.
Not sure why everyone cares about the TV's internal app/media player so much on the U8G. $50 Roku or Chromecast with Google TV can fix that. I would rather go with the ones with better image quality.
Just in case anybody else was wondering...

I was deciding between the two and ended up going to with the Hisense. Brighter screen, colors look sharper and gaming is great on it. No regrets with the U8G 65

I just unboxed my 65U7G and it blew my mind. Almost perfect panel, nice black level, amazing color. I had the 75 X90CH but the U7G just leaves it in the dust imo.

Been waiting for a deal on this tv. Heard buydig is reputable, but is this warranty actually decent? Worth waiting to see if Costco matches?

This is a decent TV but somewhat overpriced for what you get. Still not a bad choice when you consider the processor, OOTB accuracy and ATSC 3.0 tuner. U8G will wipe the floor with it as a high end monitor but the Sony has a nice overall package for most folks. Depends on what you value really. That's a competitive price bracket and there are some other very solid options to weigh the strengths and weaknesses that matter to you.

For instance, if you are running an external streamer for your content and watching a lot of blu-rays then you may want something with more picture oomph like the U8G. Using a lot of OTA, lower quality video and sports, and internal apps then the Sony is a nice solution that does a lot of things competently, even if nothing spectacularly.

If you are planning on screensharing/streaming from Apple devices, only the Sony has that.

A while bunch of Sony Android TVs (including mine) have been having a recurring restart problem for the last year or so. Sony isn't exactly perfect on software, either.
