I never get any of the Roku offers 😥
I would agree with you if Roku makes money off these players, but they really don't. They make money off you using it i.e. ads and digital in-Roku purchases, so they are better off supporting it as long as possible.

Most of these are more of a loss leader to get you into or keep you in their ecosystem.
Even a slicker deal for those that are seeing it for $9.99...use coupon code WELCOME10 and it's only $4.99 with free shipping.

That's BS. Prime won't work anymore on older units. For what reason?

The reason being they can make more money by making a perfectly working product obsolete. They are also creating unnecessary waste, which I won't delve into.

Looking at phone companies that no longer provide firmware updates after a few years.

Thanks! I definitely don't need this, as I just bought a Roku Ultra a couple of months ago, but it's good to have a back up. The link took me right to the discount page.

Which Roku has best WiFi range?

Hooked a TV up in my garage and my old Roku stick gets a signal, but it's weak. The stick has always been slow to load pages and apps, so an upgrade was due anyway.

I was so excited, until I saw that it uses an IR remote. I can't go back to having to point at the TV. Otherwise, great deal.

Just ran into this. It's almost certainly the amount of flash storage on the old devices being 256M. Amazon prime doesn't seem to load over the network and all/most apps stop working when you get close or go over the 256M limit. New devices have 4GB

Anyone having issues with NOT being able to checkout using Paypal or even the regular Credit Card pay method?

At checkout it's defaulting to "Roku Pay". I switch that to CC, enter my info in, hit submit, and it loops me BACK to the shopping cart screen again. Same with Paypal.

Believe or not, they would prefer that you could continue using your old device as each time they limit their devices that's a smaller market. These devices are OLD. Developing for them is not a good experience. Roku should of included these in their list of deprecations back in 2019.
