I don't think you're supposed to defrag a SSD. Trim/optimize sure.

tempted to get this as the code worked for me.

i currently have 1.5tb of storage via nvme and about 60% full at the moment, so not really urgent and at the same time, have some $$$$ saved up for a new gpu (i.e. just waiting to grab one at reasonable price), so im wondering if i should dip into the gpu funds and get this or wait for better deals.

i know, 1st world problems Smilie

if you look at history and cost, it will be much sooner. 4K+ will speed things up, or VR cinema.

I wish these were at most like $100 and $150 for the EVO. Until then, no good.

Although at the same time I'm still very leery of SSD's. They fail on me all the time and losing 4TB would really suck. My oldest surviving SSD is only 3 years old and currently showing errors. If you ask me, they all suck especially considering the premium price.
Two possibilities for your case:
1, your PC memory is too low that the system uses ssd for paging. And your ssd is running on low available space for a long time.
2, did you get the ssd from shady eBay sellers who repackaged retired data center drives?

I don't think Windows 8 and above will even let's you Defrag. I believe optimize/trim is the only option. I guess command line Defrag might still do it or a third party program or older versions of windows. From what I read even Windows 7 will disable Defrag but maybe it's still there manually. It's been so long I don't remember.
