And that is really what this thread is about. Not taking pot shots at movies you clearly are not a fan of.
I like 5. I know I'm in the minority, but oh well. Probably have watched it more than any of the others.

I only like the original cast. Some episodes of TNG are good, but I just couldn't relate to the characters.

5 has a legitimate old-school TOS premise in some respects. God-like alien beings, going "where no man has gone before", etc. The acting by the TOS Trio is also excellent overall, with some touching character development, but its main problem for me is that its lofty goals never really accomplish much. Maybe it's the misplaced jokes or something, maybe it's being in between 4 (really fun) and 6 (the best of all ST films IMO).

The tone of the motion picture and 5 are very different from the other original cast films. Plus they are not part of the Genesis planet storyline at all whereas all the others including 6 are. So just for those two reasons alone 1 and 5 will stand on their own so to speak.

It's certainly pretty - and the tech is pretty good (mostly). The bridge is beautiful and the control panels are great. I really liked the graphic they used for raising the shields - makes much more sense logically that you would "pulse" the shields up to full strength. They never really did that again.

Yes. It's coming in HD and 4k next year. At first it will be a streaming exclusive at paramount plus. Then after at least 6 months I imagine they could release on disc.

Beyond Kirk being accused of killing the Chancellor as revenge for David, how exactly is 6 part of the Genesis storyline? To me, that's just good character development and history, not an actual plot device. IMO, 2 and 3 are the only real Genesis stories, 4 is 99.9% about whales and the probe.
