Not sure it is the lowest price, but if you are looking for one now, I think the price is not bad.

I have both the WD Blue and the MX500, different sized. seems more ppl prefer MX500.

Or if you want to increase your disk space for steam library or other software installation space but you only have 1 nvme slot on the board then this is the way

Thanks OP. Definitely not as fast as nvme but if you need a sata drive these are solid. I used several versions of these throughout the years. 240gb, 500gb, 2tb. All still working perfect.

SATA is old tech. This year at least should buy Pcie-3 NVVE at 2GB/s, pcie-4 at 5GB/s would be mainstream soon.

Good drives. I have 4 MX500's at this point, all good, including 2 of these 2TB drives. They were $161 at one point like 2 months ago, but typically $180-190, so good deal if sold and shipped by Amazon, but not an all time low price.

I think they were simply suggesting an OS update for security, but you are correct. It still would not solve the problem that a 2.5" is the only physical option unless adapters are used. Even then, they would still be limited to SATA speeds though.

I have one older PC booting on one of these and a newer one booting on a SN750 NVME. On paper the latter is like 7X faster but in reality it feels like 30% faster or something.
