I looked at this one and few other mini laser engravers. This one is a novelty at best. A few other companies sell there own brand version of this thing. At 129 it's probably the cheapest of the lot. According to a quick search on this site it's always on sale at comgrow.

My recommendation is save the money and get something a bit more capable. I am considering getting a ORTUR Laser Master 2

The ORTUR doesn't look like a very good option. It's more than 2x the cost, lower resolution, doesn't have any greater material capability AND IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY PROTECTIVE COVERING SO IS SUPER DANGEROUS FOR REFLECTIONS.

It's upsides are working area and higher power so maybe this is what someone would want but it's not a clear "this is better"

Does it have better or more flexible software?

2x the cost? I'm getting 50 bucks more and its over 4x the power (7w) with more surface area, 410mm x 430mm vs this units pathetic 86mm x 96mm print area.

Resolution of 300 DPI is the only downside, versus this units 508, but acting like 300 DPI isn't good enough is lunacy. 300 dpi is more than enough for anyone who isn't engraving tiny, fine jewelry.|

In any case, you pretty much lied on the most important part, price. Stop.
